Measuring our EI empowers us with total ownership. So, what are the characteristics of an emotionally intelligent person?
I use the following eight statements to define emotionally intelligent people:
Score your own emotional intelligence out of 10.
1. Listen and learn from criticism | /10 |
2. Maintain a solution mode attitude
/10
3. Manage emotions
/10
4. Recognise behavioural effect on others
/10
5. Empathise
/10
6. Be disciplined and self-motivated
/10
7. Listen
/10
8. Look for ways
to improve
/10
In order to get a score in any area, our mind first had to define what a 10/10 looked like. We couldn't have got any score out of 10 until we defined the 10. Your definition will be very different to my definition, and very different to other people's definitions. The great thing is, it's your definition. Our mind cannot define something that we are not capable of, so that 10/10 that you just defined, you are completely capable of achieving. There is only one thing stopping you..... YOU!
What would it take in order to increase just one of your scores by simply 1 x point?
If you redid this measure in a month's time and your score has gone up by simply 1 x point, what is it that you have done differently to improve your EI?
